The recognition

The Women Builders Council has named Sarah Marandi, P.E., CCM, founder, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of SRE Engineering, a 2026 recipient of its Outstanding Women Builders Award. The award was presented on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the Council’s Annual Champion Awards Gala at Guastavino’s in New York City. Sarah was nominated by Mildred Tolentino, and shared the evening with her father, Reza Marandi, P.E., CCM, ENV SP, SRE’s Senior Vice President.

The Women Builders Council brings together the leaders shaping New York’s construction industry and works to expand opportunity for women across the field. The gala gathered honorees, presenters, sponsors and members for an evening celebrating the people transforming the industry and the city it builds.

A career built on the city’s hardest work

Since 2014, Sarah has managed programs for NYC DEP, NYC DDC, NYC EDC and the MTA on capital work of up to $1.8 billion, spanning water and wastewater, transit, resiliency and buildings. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Construction Manager, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

She founded SRE Engineering to build her family’s legacy into a lasting institution. The firm takes its name from its three pillars: Sarah, Reza and Esperanza. Today SRE’s construction managers and engineering teams serve agencies, developers and building owners across Greater New York, with $6 billion in projects delivered.
