About the Project

Performed adjacent to the Gowanus Canal, this capital infrastructure upgrade brought the local sewer system into regulatory compliance while reducing the risk of neighborhood flooding. The improvements support long-term service performance, resilience, and environmental stewardship in a historically significant area of Brooklyn.

Project Execution

This $52.9M capital infrastructure project focused on upgrading sewer systems surrounding the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. Our firm served as a sub-consultant, providing inspectors and a Community Construction Liaison throughout the duration of the work.

  • Installation of high-level storm sewers, catch basins, manholes, and chambers
  • Replacement of aging water mains
  • Full restoration of roadway curvature and concrete sidewalks
  • Improvements to water distribution, water quality, drainage, and overall system resiliency
  • Project area spans 3rd Avenue between Douglass Street and Carroll Street, including Denton Place
  • Work executed in compliance with NYCDEP and NYCDDC standards

These upgrades are expected to reduce neighborhood flooding and bring the local sewer system into regulatory alignment, supporting both environmental resilience and community infrastructure.
